I have always admired watercolor medium.  After attending a studio session with my sister-in-law Fran, lead by Jeanne DeHaan, a few years ago, I decided I wanted to try painting my own watercolor paintings. I have since taken watercolor classes and workshops from several notable watercolor artists including Tony Couch, Frank Webb, Woody Hansen, and Robert Dvorak. I took a wonderful 3-day workshop with Lian Zhen where I also tried Chinese painting.  Recently I took a workshops from Birgit O'Connor in beautiful Point Reyes and from  Beverly Fields and Sandy Delahanty.

I participated in an exciting plein air workshop with David Peterson last year in Old Sacramento. Check out the Sacramento Bee Snapshots webpage for a picture of me, my friends Susan, and Debbie, and our paintings.  Afterwards we visited the Crocker to see the Gregory Kondos exhibit and got to meet him.  What a splendid painter and person.

Local artists Ron and Sandy Ridley have enthusiastically taught me creative techniques and Barbara Nechis was gracious in sharing some of her expertise during a visit to her studio in Calistoga.

The works of Earl Thollander, Chiura Obata, and Gwen Frostic have intrigued and influenced me since my youth and I am sorry I was never able to meet any of them.
